lots of fun

so i've been bad and haven't written in a while, but lots has been happening. last week we had a lot of fun with three birthdays in our group, including mine. so there was a lot of cake last week. My friends surprised me by decorating my bed, and they even tricked me and surprised me with a cake. We went out for reggae night on the beach too that evening, since that's what happens on wednesday nights. It was a bit rainy, but still fun just being out. We also went on a trip this weekend to cape coast and elmina, two cities a couple hours west of us on the coast. We went to the famous Elmina castle, which is a historical site because it housed slaves before they were shipped across the atlantic, so that was a pretty depressing, but enlightening. we also went on a canopy walk, but the pictures of that will be more impressive than anything i could say about it- it was pretty neat though walking on little bridges up in the trees. it was much shorter than i expected though. The resort we stayed at was nice, and on a really pretty part of the beach, but for some reason the road to the resort was not paved at all, so it was really bumpy. i'm not sure how it works to have a road that throws you back and forth through huge potholes as an entrance to a resort...but it worked. and we had a nice dinner on the beach with a bonfire. On sunday we just did some shopping in Cape Coast. Today I only had one class, so I did what i've been meaning to do for my birthday present to myself, which was get my hair done, and i had been thinking about gettin cornrows, but at the last minute decided to get braids, so I spent 5 hours this afternoon getting extensions braided to my head, and i have to go back in the morning for them to finish up. It's pretty neat, and I can't wait to show you all pictures. I think I may cornrow it after this starts getting loose, and then I've been debating shaving it. It's pretty likely that will happen. I have a lot more to talk about, including a lot of little things i've noticed in the past three weeks, but I have to work on an assignment and get some sleep, but I'll make time later this week to write more and upload pictures. Since the internet connection isn't great, it's been taking a while, but soon!!
